Understanding BDIX Peering

A comprehensive guide to how ISPs interconnect through BDIX and what it means for end users.

What is Peering?

Peering is the direct interconnection between Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to exchange traffic without routing through third-party networks. BDIX (Bangladesh Internet Exchange) serves as a neutral peering point where local ISPs can connect and exchange traffic efficiently.

Benefits of BDIX Peering

  • Reduced latency for local content access
  • Higher bandwidth availability (often 100+ Mbps)
  • Cost savings for ISPs (no international bandwidth charges)
  • Improved network resilience and redundancy

How It Works

When you access a BDIX-peered server, your request stays within Bangladesh's network infrastructure. Your ISP routes the traffic directly to the destination server through the BDIX exchange point, avoiding expensive and slower international links.
